Website planning, navigation, page layout

Planning for success

Usability work I can offer includes:

  • assessing existing site or competitor sites with/without representative users to identify what is working well and what needs to be avoided
  • heuristic reviews (reviewed against best practice guidelines) of websites or plans for a new website to improve them in terms of usability, commercial effectiveness or search engine optimisation
  • planning the information architecture / navigation which can include optimising it for search engines
  • wireframing pages (deciding what's on the page and where - then presenting it visually) / developing a prototype that shows user journey for designers to work from or to be used for testing with representative users

I specialise in ecommerce and intranet applications - that's where I have the most experience but I am happy to consider other interesting projects.

New web design bringing together 7 brands when I was Website Manager for Zellweger Analytics. We hit the right balance in providing potential customers with product information and not only did Sales enjoy more leads coming through but the web leads had by far the highest conversion rates.

"The average UI has some 40 flaws. Correcting the easiest 20 of these yields an average improvement in usability of 50%. The big win, however, occurs when usability is factored in from the beginning. This can yield efficiency improvements of over 700%."
